Thy Word O LORD is Good Indeed

openBible

A poem by one of our young ladies, Miss Hollie Wilkinson.

Thy Word, O Lord, is good indeed,
It is our guide to life through grace.
It teaches us and lights our paths,
It shows the glory of Thy face.

Thy Word, O Lord, is good indeed,
It tells us how the world began.
That all that Thou didst make was good,
And in Thine image formedst Thou man.

Thy Word, O Lord, is good indeed,
It tells us how we lost our way.
How we rebelled against our God,
And so we sin unto this day.

Thy Word, O Lord, is good indeed,
It teaches us Thy sovereign law.
Which in our sin we daily break,
And our obedience still is poor.

Thy Word, O Lord, is good indeed
It shows that there is hope for some
The prophets tell us of a man
The Mighty God, to earth would come

Thy Word, O Lord, is good indeed,
It tells us of our Saviour’s birth.
A mediator to redeem,
His people throughout all the earth.

Thy Word, O Lord, is good indeed,
That very Saviour came to die.
Endured the wrath of a just God,
To save poor sinners such as I.

Thy Word, O Lord, is good indeed,
It shows us death has lost its sting.
The grave no more has victory,
For Jesus rose and He is King.

Thy Word, O Lord, is good indeed,
It teaches us that we can claim.
No righteousness before our God,
And we must call on Jesus’ name.

Thy Word, O Lord, is good indeed,
It shows that Thou hast named Thine own.
Before the world began and they,
Are justified by faith alone.

Thy Word, O Lord, is good indeed,
It shows that when the world is done.
The Judge will bring our deeds to light,
As we all kneel before His throne.

Thy Word, O Lord, is good indeed,
It shows Thy justice will prevail.
The wicked will be turned away,
Their words will be to none avail.

Thy Word, O Lord, is good indeed,
For those who’ve lived their lives for Thee.
Will welcomed be with open arms,
And will be Thine eternally.

Thy Word, O Lord, is good indeed,
Its author well deserves our praise.
I pray, O Lord, for gifts of grace,
To love Thee and Thy Word always.

  1. The Theology and living daily practice of the Puritanical heritage of our colonies two 1612 and 1620 remains important to Christ our King and God His and Our Father; let us not forget to practice and appreciate this divine ancestry through the Living and Infinitely Holy Spririt who completes our Trinity and Sustains our lives. Yours in Holy and American Purity of Spirit now and forever, Amen.
